CNN senior international correspondent, Ivan Watson, stated during a CNN panel appearance that he does not recognize the "Free Syrian Army" (FSA) anymore. He says that many defectors from the Syrian Army are hiding in Turkey, afraid of the extremist al-Qaeda jihadists that are gaining more control of certain areas in northern Syria. He also says that many opposition activists and FSA fighters are embracing the al-Qaeda ideology, specifically mentioning the story of an activist that he knew for a while, who is now singing songs of praise for Osama bin Laden and the 9/11 terror attacks.
