SYRIA Peaceful Solution: John Kerry Says Assad Must Hand Over Chemical Weapons To Stop Attack - Within minutes of this remark Russia busies itself hammering out just such a deal with Syria to avert war - And Assad agrees - Syria will give up its chemical stockpiles!!!
September 9, 2013
In an amazing twist Russia and Syria have agreed to a deal this afternoon whereby Syria will give up its chemical weapons arsenal, probably to foot in his mouth Kerry's utter astonishment as well as the rest of the worlds (I sure didn't see that one coming either), to avert imminent USA military action.
No doubt some assurances have been made to Assad's Syrian government that Russia would provide it with all the deterrence it requires in the face of longstanding threats from Israel. Now the question remains, will the USA give up this talk of preemptive military action on baseless pretext's and sit down to peace talks in good faith?
Russia has been more than reasonable and given the USA war-hawks every opportunity to reverse coarse. And yes this all came about because Russia was listening when Kerry made the half hearted suggestion of chemical weapons disarmament in response to a press question, something along the line of 'what would it take for Assad to avoid this imminent war' (In above Video)
Well Mr Kerry whats it going to be? Are you a man of your word? Is there really a way out? Please accept this gesture of peace and sit down and negotiate in good faith with your Russian partners as peace broker. No-one wants this war. Take this exit strategy gifted to you by Russian diplomatic efforts. You know the alternative is fighting a war that no-one can ever claim victory from. WW3
Syria welcomes Russia's call to handover chemical weapons
September 9, 2013 - Syria has agreed to Russia's proposal that it put its chemical-weapon stockpiles under international control. US Secretary of State John Kerry initially suggested such a scheme - as a way to avoid a military strike on Syria. The US State Department, though, has since issued an apparent retraction, saying it wasn't a genuine offer. RT's Sean Thomas joins us for more.
An emotional and understandable response from Syrian Girl - If Syria Disarms Chemical Weapons We Lose The War
September 9, 2013 - I felt the same way (as Syrian Girl) about an hour ago, witnessing this all transpire, but the more I thought of it the more I realize this is a brilliant plan. No doubt that Russia has given Assad assurance that Syria will come underneath Russian nuclear umbrella. Assad would never have agreed to this otherwise, which is basically just calling Kerrys bluff. If the deal is made though, Syria will have its deterrent that it does need against Israel, USA warmongers have a way out, and they will have lost all pretext for war on Syria.
Believe me Russia is not abandoning Syria, this is a last minute effort to avert war and it may be the greatest act of diplomacy we have seen from Russia in recent days. As usual DC is playing checkers and Russia is playing Chess. Now that Syria, Russia, and hypothetically the USA, have agreed that disposal of the chemical weapons is a way out, if they dare launch an attack, they will be seen ten fold as the aggressor. They may have averted an imminent WW3 scenario.
Israel will remain deterred by Russian nuclear umbrella, and if the plan comes to fruition it can be used publicly to prove that it was not Syrian army chemical weapons after-all being used in the alleged attacks. If Russia and Syria can move this plan forward quickly, USA will lose all pretext for invasion and bombardment of Syria.
Russia can also now redouble its efforts in bringing Israeli WMD under public scrutiny, and put forward resolutions to the UN demanding Israel give up its illegal arsenals as well. Russia should also press Washington for a guarantee that its military intervention is off the table in light of this promising new plan for peace. Wriggling out from under this proposed action will prove USA has no intentions for peaceful conflict resolution.
Carney: Congress Should Pass Resolution Without Knowing If Assad Would Give Up Chemical Weapons

Syria has agreed with proposed chemical weapons arsenal disposal - Call off the attack Obama!
September 9, 2013 - Russia has asked Syria to put its chemical weapons stockpiles under international control and then have them destroyed, in an attempt to avoid US military strikes.
Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the offer was made during talks with his Syrian counterpart, Walid Muallem, who welcomed the initiative.
The US said it was sceptical, but would have a "hard look" at the plan.
The US accuses Damascus of war crimes, allegations denied by the regime.
US Secretary of State John Kerry, in Europe to garner support for the military action, has once again warned that taking no action is riskier than launching strikes.
When asked at a news conference whether there was anything Syrian President Bashar al-Assad could do to avoid military action, Mr Kerry replied that he could hand over his entire stockpile of chemical weapons within the next week.
US officials subsequently clarified that Mr Kerry was making a "rhetorical argument" rather than a serious offer.
However, Mr Lavrov later said he had urged Mr Muallem during talks in Moscow to "not only agree on placing chemical weapons storage sites under international control, but also on their subsequent destruction".
He said he had also told Mr Muallem that Syria should then fully join the Chemical Weapons Convention.
Mr Muallem told reporters through an interpreter that Syria welcomed the Russian initiative.
He praised Russia for "attempting to prevent American aggression against our people".
Mr Kerry and Mr Lavrov spoke on the phone after the Russian proposal was put forward, but US officials sounded a cautious note over the plan.
White House spokesman Jay Carney said the US government would study the proposal, but had scepticism over the credibility of the Assad regime.
"In an interview earlier, Assad refused to even acknowledge that he has chemical weapons. Of course, the whole world knows he does," said Mr Carney.
He promised that the US would continue to push for strikes because the credible threat of military action was vital in putting pressure on the Assad regime.
UK Prime Minister David Cameron said the destruction of the weapons would be a "huge step forward", but warned that it should not be used as a "distraction tactic".
